You might be asking yourself, what are the benefits of Vitamin D and why you should be using it as a daily supplement, chances are you might be deficient or receiving insufficient levels of Vitamin D daily.

Maybe increasing your Vitamin D intake is just what you need to become Superman or Supergirl.

You may even be surprised to find out that it can be helpful for weight loss as well.

Vitamin D can come from increasing exposure to sunlight and including vitamin D rich foods into your diet like fish, cod liver oil, milk, and eggs. Fresh fruits and vegetables are also good sources of vitamin D. Even Shakeology is another good source of Vitamin D. I am still going to recommend supplementing on top of everything else.

Keep in mind there are several forms of Vitamin D, the forms you want to look at are vitamins D2 or D3. I’ll be mostly talking about the Vitamin D3 in this post. (although D2 is equally useful, so be sure to Google which one will really meet your needs.) and over the next month to three months will be experimenting with this interesting vitamin to personally check out the benefits. See if it really increases my overall weight loss while I do the Body Beast workout and drink my Shakeology.

Usually we can soak up Vitamin D through that giant fiery ball in the sky known as the Sun, unless you’re in a place known for cloud cover or ridiculously long winters and can’t get any direct sun light. More often than not, a lot of people do not get nearly as much of their daily/recommended vitamin dose, let alone have the time to sit around in direct sun light. So if you burn like a vampire in daylight, you’ll probably want this in your daily supplement.

How much Vitamin D should you take?
5,000 IU to 10,000 IU daily tends to be the recommended for weight loss benefits.

What are some of the other benefits of Vitamin D?

  • Promoting absorption of calcium and bone health (insufficient Vitamin D intake can lead to osteoporosis later in life)
  • It is an immune system regulator
  • It can reduce the severity and frequency of asthma symptoms
  • May help with depression
  • May decrease high blood pressure
  • Reducing inflammation

and many more.

Keep in mind, I’m not a Doctor.

So be smart when you add a supplement to your routine, get any and all the facts you can, even ask your doctor if you want before you try it out. I do however love experimenting with my own body so I will be testing for a month with a 5,000IU intake(not counting whatever comes from my nutrition). As the right dose for each person seems to vary greatly. This amazing little vitamin could easily be one of the many steps in decreasing obesity that is running rampant in america. Noticed I said one of the many, because you still need proper nutrition and daily exercise/activity to really get your body healthy.
